Many of you have asked how you can help communities in our state that have been devastated by recent flooding. IEMA suggests that contributions be made to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund: www.redcrossillinois.org/donate-online.
June 17 - 11:00 a.m. Flooding Update:
"Water levels along the upper Fox River remain in excess of 2.5 feet above flood stage as the river is expected to continue to rise slowly throughout today. The good news is the NWS (National Weather Service) is expecting the Fox River to crest near Algonquin by early Wednesday and hold at the same levels until Monday of next week before beginning to recede. Moderate flooding continues in the Richardson Subdivision with minor flooding noted along Grove Ave. in Valley View. The Fox River continues to be extremely hazardous to anyone who ventures out in a boat or on a jet ski. The flow rate this morning was 5,650 cfs. Normal flows for this time of year are approximately 1,500 cfs."
